Description
The Lisbon Cathedral (Sé de Lisboa) was built in the 12th century and restored several times throughout its long history. It is connected with a cloister and has a fortification-like design with two front towers and crenelations over the walls. The stained-glass window reproducing the 12 Apostles around the central figure of Christ the saviour is one of the highlights alongside the Chapel of Bartholomew Joanes that encloses several Renaissance paintings.
Access & Transport
The cathedral is in the historical centre of the city, walking distance to many attractions and a short walk from the Tagus River. Trams 12 and 28 stop at 'Limoeiro', right next to the monument and the Terreiro do Paço metro station (blue line) is 5mins' walk away.
Instructions & Recommendations
The ticket includes an ascent to the High Choir, a visit to the Museum of the Treasury of the Cathedral, and a walk along the naves and deambulatory of the church. For those who come for worship or prayer, access is free.
Environmental & Social
