The National Museum of Ancient Art (Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga) of Lisbon is housed in the Palácio Alvor-Pombal and displays a wide range of collections mostly from periods comprised between the Middle Ages and the early 19th century. The most important section is that of the European paintings, which includes the Saint Vincent Panels polyptych with 6 panels (attributed to Nuno Gonçalves) and works from the like of Rubens and H. Bosch. The other collections are Sculpture (Ancient Rome and Egypt, and Western Europe), Goldwork, Textiles, the Imperial collection from the former Portuguese Empire, Furniture, and Ceramics.
Access & Transport
The museum is in central Lisbon, 2km west of the city centre. Buses 713, 714 and 727 stop along Rua das Janelas Verdes and the Santos and Santos-o-Velho tram stations (15, 18, 25) are less than 5mins away

Conclusion
One of the best art venues in Lisbon. The eclectic aspect can be a little disorientating, but it has the benefit that almost anyone can find something in line with personal interests. One to add to the list of cultural activities if you have 3 days or more in the city
