The Palace of Ajuda was built during the 18th century for the Portuguese Royal Family just south of the Monsanto Forest Park, overlooking the city and the Tagus River. It was designed in Neo-classical style and visitors can discover luxuriously furnished and decorated halls & chambers such as the Spanish Tapestry Hall, King Luís's Room, the Blue Room, the Winter Garden, the Supper Room, the Throne Room, or the Ballroom.

The Palace is located in the Alto da Ajuda neighbourhood, in Westen Lisbon Tram 18 and bus 729 stop next to the palace at 'Palácio Nacional Ajuda'

Conclusion
The Palace is one of the best places to learn about Portuguese history outside of the marine exploration and discoveries. An excellent add-on option for anybody already in the Belem area but also worth a dedicated trip from the city center for those who like it cultural.
