Description
Westfield London is a large and modern shopping Centre in western London, its anchor tenants include John Lewis, Next and Primark. It opened in 2008 and has since then expanded to become the largest shopping centre in Europe.
Access & Transport
The shopping mall can easily be reached by road (car / bus) and rail with Shepherd's Bush underground and train stations (Central, Southern and Overground) on the southern side of the development and Wood Lane underground station (Circle and Hammersmith & City lines) on its northern side.
Instructions & Recommendations
You can find everything there, including lunch / dining options so any time is good. Since it is sheltered, it may make sense to allocate this to a rainy day!
Environmental & Social
The mall entailed some massive construction work, lots of building materials and a significant energy expenditure every day. However, there are some positive policies being implemented such as zero waste to landfill and low energy lighting. The social aspect is actually marginally positive (rare for a shopping mall) as it has helped with the economic regeneration of the area.
Conclusion
Westfield London is one of the better shopping options in the city, but we would not suggest it to tourists with only a few days in the city unless some of the mainstream brands are not available in the city where they reside. It seems the more natural target are people living in the Greater London area.
