Description
Hollywood is a neighbourhood of Los Angeles famous for being the main historical center of the American movie studios such as Paramount Pictures (still there), Warner Bros, Universal Pictures and Columbia Pictures. Landmarks include the Walk of Fame (over 2,700 stars embedded in the sidewalk), the Dolby and Grauman Chinese Theatres and the Hollyhock House (East Hollywood) designed by Frank Lloyd Wright.
Access & Transport
The US-101 exit 7 gets onto Santa Monica Blvd that constitutes the neighbourhood east-west axis. 'Hollywood/Western' station (B line) stops at the corner of Hollywood Blvd and Western Ave.
Instructions & Recommendations
We suggest combining a visit there with a walk to Griffith Observatory in Griffith Park.
Environmental & Social
Urban environment with hardly any green spaces. The flow of cash-rich tourists has had a negative impact on the mindset and practice of many individuals plying their trade there.
Conclusion
A household name but little to show for it - in fact, it is outright disappointing. Better allocate your time to other attractions if you are in town for only 2-3 days.
Key positive
Some iconic landmarks
Key negative
Can feel unsafe
Nothing of substance to see (besides Hollyhock House possibly)
Suitability
No restrictions but not interesting for younger children
