The Grove - by Tribord Amure
Description
The Grove is a retail and entertainment complex in Los Angeles' Fairfax District. It is located next to the historical Farmer's Market (1934) with its food stalls, groceries and restaurants. The Grove features a large central park with an animated fountain designed by WET (of Las Vegas Bellagio fame), false fronts in Art Deco style and electric-powered trolley cars. The anchor tenant is Nordstrom and many well-known brands have a store there.
Access & Transport
The shopping mall is at 189 The Grove Drive, just north of the Miracle Mile / Park La Brea and south of Melrose and West Hollywood. Parking is at Fairfax Avenue (on Farmers Market Place), or on The Grove Drive (between Beverly Boulevard and Third Street). There are bus stops on W 3rd St (Fairfax) and S Fairfax Ave (16, 217, 218, Fairfax)
Instructions & Recommendations
The fountain is located in front of the theatre, at the heart of The Grove whereas the electric trolley travels along First Street between The Grove and The Original Farmers Market between 13h and 20h45 with a break at 15h45-17h00
Environmental & Social
No data around environmental sustainability. We deem the venue marginally negative on that front due to the stores and fountain's electricity consumption. Reinforces consumerist culture.
Conclusion
The Grove is one of the more enjoyable retail complexes in the center of L.A. Theming aside, it really is not a tourist attraction so head there for the shopping and/or the food options at the Original Farmers Market next door.
Key positive
Plenty of food stalls and fresh produce next door
One of the best options in the city for shoppers
Key negative
Nothing cultural or truly touristy
