Château de Cénevières - by Management

Description
The Château de Cénevières was built in the 13th century on a cliffside above the Lot river and expanded into a residential Renaissance palace in the 16th century. It has retained defensive features such as the towers and entrance gate and there are 10 furnished rooms open to visits.
Access & Transport
The castle is on the eastern edge of the village of Cénevières, on the south bank of the Lot river, in the namesake department. The closest towns are Cahors (35km), Figeac (38km) and Villefranche-de-Rouergue (30km).
Instructions & Recommendations
There are both self-guided visits and guided tour options. Do check the opening hours carefully on the website as they change depending on the time of the year. We suggest combining this attraction with the nearby village of Saint-Cirq-Lapopie (8km away).
Environmental & Social
Negligible carbon footprint. Helps preserve the region's architectural heritage.
Conclusion
Picturesque and still inhabited but not that much to see so if you are in the area we would strongly recommend booking a guided tour (rather than the self-guided option) to get the most out of your visit.
