Description
The Roman walls of Lugo were built in the 3rd century AD and stretch over 2,100m to fully enclose the historical centre of town. The fortifications included a moat, an intervallum (clearing between the walls and the city), walls of about 7m width with height of 8-12m, 10 gates and 85 towers (about 50 are still intact).
Access & Transport
There are several access points to the walls by way of staircases. The Interpretation centre is at 11 Praza do Campo There is a lift access at c/ Carril de Romanos from 10h – 18h Lugo is 90km southeast of A Coruña (A-6) and 100km east of Santiago de Compostela (N-547/A-54)
Instructions & Recommendations
The Interpretation centre (free admission) is open every day from 10h-14 and 16h-18h (until 20h from 01 June to mid-Oct.)

Conclusion
One of the best-preserved fortifications in Spain and definitely worth a detour if you happen to be around Santiago DC or A Coruña with a day to spare, which you can then fill up with a visit of the cathedral and the provincial museum.
