Description
The Lugdunum museum (previously called Gallo-Roman Museum) is located next to the ruins of the Roman Theatres of Fourvière, in the southwest of Lyon. The archaeological museum was designed by architect Bernard Zehrfuss around a concrete spiral staircase and displays artefacts from Lugdunum (the Gallo-Roman name of Lyon) founded during the 1st century BC. The permanent collections include mosaics, engraved tablets, sarcophagi, coins and treasures. The museum also holds regular temporary exhibitions.

Conclusion
The museum is, in our opinion, the perfect companion to the ruins of Lugdunum on the hill besides it. It mixes educational content with visually impressive artefacts in-situ, which adds an important contextual aspect to the experience.
