Lyon Zoo - by Daniel Austin on Google
Description
The Lyon Zoo is located within the Parc de la Tête d'Or and houses over 400 animals (mammals, reptiles, birds) and plenty of turtles over 2.5ha, including the "African plain" created in 2006. Species include giraffes, Amur leopard, zebras, monkeys, crocodiles and lemur, among others.
Access & Transport
The Zoo is situated near the centre of the park It is best accessed from Massena metro station (A), about 500m from the southern entrance near the Botanical Garden, or by bus along Av. Verguin (27) or Boulevard des Belges / Rue Duquesnes (C1, C6, 27, 38).
Instructions & Recommendations
This activity is best combined with the Parc de la Tête d'or and the Lyon Botanical Garden (also located within the park)
Environmental & Social
The zoo is a member of the European Zoos and Aquariums Association, and there have been several births of endangered species. Free entrance is a bonus for the city residents
Conclusion
The zoo isn't large or special enough to be considered a major tourist attraction for international visitors but is a good option for families residing in Lyon and anybody exploring the Parc de la Tête d'Or. We would need the zoo to significantly upgrade its enclosures before we can genuinely recommend the attraction.
