Description
Le Musée Lumière exhibits and documents the very beginning of cinematography with the device invented by the Lumiere brothers and used to shoot the very first movie as well as some of their other related inventions. It is housed in the Villa Lumiere which was owned by their father. The Institut Lumiere runs the museum and 2 movie theatres, one in the Villa and the other in the "Hangar du Premier Film". The association's focus is to preserve the cinematographic heritage.

Address: 25 rue du Premier Film in Lyon's 8th arr. The Monplaisir - Lumière metro station (D) is next to the museum and bus C16 also stops there
