Description
The Parc de la Tête d'Or is Lyon's largest inner-city park. It was created in 1857 and is located in the north of the 6th arrondissement. The parc is spread over 117ha, including a large lake where visitors can boat, wide grassy and undulating areas, a small zoo, sculptures and memorials, sports infrastructure, rose gardens, and a botanical garden with greenhouses. It is also very popular with joggers.
Access & Transport
The parc is best accessed from Massena metro station (A), about 500m from the southern entrance near the Botanical Garden, or by bus along Av. Verguin (27) or Boulevard des Belges / Rue Duquesnes (C1, C6, 27, 38).
Instructions & Recommendations
This activity is best combined with the Lyon Zoo and the Lyon Botanical Garden, both located within the parc.
Environmental & Social
A green activity. Positive for the community as green spaces make for a better living environment
Conclusion
The parc is the go-to place for residents and travellers looking for green space within Lyon but is also an attraction by itself thanks to its scenic lake and landscaping, small but free zoo, and various gardens.
