Santiago Bernabéu Stadium - by Management
Description
The Real Madrid is one of the most successful football clubs in Spanish football and on the European scene. The Club offers a tour of its home ground, the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium and of its Museum. The stadium has a seating capacity of over 81,000 spectators, which makes it one of the largest in Europe. This review is for the "classic" tour that currently consists of: "panoramic viewpoint inside the stadium, Museum, Santiago Bernabéu 21st Century model, photographic displays with players (optional) and the Official Store". Note that this route and the current price have been revised on account of the stadium redevelopment work.
Access & Transport
Address: Av. de Concha Espina, 1, 28036 Madrid The Santiago Bernabéu metro station (10) is next to the stadium's entrance and the Nuevos Ministerios train station (6, 8, 10, C1, C2, C3, C4, C7, C10) is 600m away. In addition, buses 27, 40, 126, 147 and 150 stop next to the entrance on Paseo de la Castellana. Note from the website regarding accessibility: "due to renovation work at the stadium, visits with wheelchairs will be temporarily reduced. It will only be possible to visit the Museum, but there will be no access to the panoramic view".
Instructions & Recommendations
The venue closes to visitors 5h before the game starts on match day so please double check the match schedule on the Real Madrid / tour website.
Environmental & Social
Whilst the running of the stadium remains energy and water intensive the club makes efforts with respect to LED lighting and waste recycling in Real Madrid City, its training grounds). The visit itself has a very light carbon footprint.
Conclusion
The Santiago Bernabéu Stadium & Real Madrid Museum tour experience is currently impacted by the stadium's renovation work that are not expected to conclude before Q4 2023. Based on our analysis, pre-works we would have recommended it to anybody with an interest in sports clubs and a budget that allows for it but in the current conditions we would strongly suggest looking for another alternative such as another football club in Madrid... (not the same Museum content though).
Key positive
Interesting club history and plenty of trophies in the Museum
Key negative
Experience is currently compromised by the renovation work
The tour has become very expensive
Suitability
Suitable for all age but best for football fans. Only the museum is accessible for wheelchair users whilst the renovation works are ongoing
