Alcúdia, Mallorca - by Ju8590 on Google
Description
Alcúdia is one of the main towns in northern Mallorca. It is known for its well-preserved stretches of defensive walls and gates such as Porta del Moll and Porta de Sant Sebastià. Other highlights include the church of Sant Jaume d'Alcúdia and the Roman ruins of Pollentia, just south of the town.
Access & Transport
The town is situated along the northern coast of Mallorca, 55km northeast of Palma. Bus 302 goes there directly from Palma
Instructions & Recommendations
We suggest combining a visit there with a drive to Cap de Formentor but note the parking /driving restrictions there during the summer months. The town of Pollença is also worth checking out and is only 12km away.
Environmental & Social
Most of the activities are environmentally neutral and help preserve the town's architectural heritage + tourism brings some economic activity
Conclusion
Alcudia isn't really spectacular in any way, but it does form a compact and enjoyable small town with a medieval feel which makes it inviting for a couple of hours or even a full day excursion when coupled to the Roman ruins of Pollentia, and possibly some time at the nearby beach.
