Description
Cape Formentor is the northernmost point of the island of Mallorca. It is known for its rugged coastline, the Formentor Lighthouse and various coves with clear waters such as Cala Figuera, Cala Murta and Formentor beach.
Access & Transport
The peninsula is in the north of Mallorca, 25-30km from Alcúdia and 80km northeast of Palma. There is only one road through, the Ma-2210 that reaches all the way to the lighthouse. It seems bus 334 goes there from Alcúdia and Pollença.
Instructions & Recommendations
Make sure you understand the driving and parking restrictions from mid-June to mid-September after 10h00. Recommended to go by bus during that period. We suggest combining a drive to the cape with some time at one of the coves / beaches and a visit of the town of Alcúdia.
Environmental & Social
No carbon footprint except for the transportation to get there. Socially neutral.
Conclusion
A little bit for everyone with a striking coastline, some coves with limpid waters and even some hiking path; a gorgeous natural environment, to be enjoyed outside of the summer season.
Key positive
Possibly the best views in Mallorca
Several hiking and beach options
Key negative
Busy + traffic restrictions in the summer
Suitability
No restrictions
