Jardines de Alfabia - by Torsten Heinze on Google
Description
The Jardines de Alfabia consist of a landscaped garden and a house built in the 15th century (later expanded). The main design features include a pergola with 72 columns, a cistern covered by a half-barrel vault, terraces, palm trees and bamboos. The house incorporates various designs (Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque) and furnished rooms (including a large library) over two floors.
Access & Transport
The gardens are 18km north of Palma, just 6km before Soller along the main road (Ma-11). The Palma-Soller bus No. 211 stops there and the train from Soller nearby in Bunyola.
Instructions & Recommendations
Not that the gardens are closed from November until 01 March
Environmental & Social
Mostly environmentally friendly and helps preserve an artistic heritage (the gardens mainly)
Conclusion
The gardens aren't a must see on the island by any mean but for those interested in exploring something else than beaches and churches, they provide an excellent casual alternative with a dash of nature and culture.
