Description
Mercat de l'Olivar is a covered market in the center of Palma de Mallorca with about 80 stands selling fruits, vegetables, meat, fish & seafood, cheeses and cold cuts. There are also some bars and restaurants inside. The market was built in 1951 with a Mediterranean design and comprises two perpendicular halls.
Access & Transport
The market is located in the centre of Palma, 200m north of the Plaza Mayor and 200m south of Plaça d'Espanya. The main station: 'Estació Intermodal' is only 300m away and several bus services stop there and at Plaça d'Espanya. There is parking on site.
Instructions & Recommendations
Note that most stands close early afternoon. We suggest combining the market with a visit of the Plaza Mayor.
Environmental & Social
No environmental / sourcing data. The small producers' aspect is a positive from a social perspective. Not over-commercialized

One of the best places on the island for those who enjoy shopping for food. Nothing extraordinary from a touristic standpoint but definitely worth checking out for those in the area.
