The Plaza Mayor de Palma de Mallorca ('Plaça Major' in Catalan) is situated in the centre of town, where the convent of San Felipe Nerri and the seat of the Inquisition were until the area was completely redeveloped from the 1820's up until the 20th century. It is surrounded by three and four-storey buildings including a couple exhibiting a Catalan Modernism design.

The square essentially marks the center of town. The main station: 'Estació Intermodal' and Plaça d'Espanya are 600m to the north. Buses CC stops on Carrer de Colom and the 3, 4, 7, 20 at Plaça del Mercat. There is an underground parking
