Description
The Archaeological Museum of Milan (Civico Museo Archeologico di Milano) collections relate to the history of Mediolanum (ancient Milan founded in the 4th century BC), Etruscan and Ancient Greece civilizations, the Early Middle Ages, and Gandhara's arts (located around the Peshawar and Swat River valleys). It is housed in two buildings, one of which is the ancient church of San Maurizio al Monastero Maggiore with a polygonal tower and an inner cloister. Collections of the museum from prehistoric and Egyptian civilisations are housed at the Castello Sforzesco Museum.
Access & Transport
The museum is located 300m south of the Sforza Castle along Corso Magenta and via Nirone. Tram station 'C.so Magenta Via Nirone' (16, 19) is almost next to it and the Cairoli (M1) and Cadorna stations (trains, M1, M2) are less than 5mins walk away.
