Description
The Naviglio district is set around Milan's Naviglio Grande and Naviglio Pavese, canals that connected the city's Porta Ticinese dock (Darsena) to the Ticino River several kms to the south. Nowadays, the area is known for its shopping, lively nightlife and, of course, the rowing and canoeing on the canals. Landmarks include the Arco di Porta Ticinese, the Basilicas of Sant'Eustorgio and San Lorenzo alle Colonne, and the Vicolo dei Lavandai (Washermen's Alley).
Access & Transport
The neighbourhood is 2km south of the city centre. The train, metro and tram station of Porta Genova (M2, T10) is located on its western side. On the north-western edge is 'C.so Colombo P.le Cantore' (T2, T10, T14) and tram #10 goes through the area.
