Royal Palace, Milan

Royal Palace Milan - by Luca Salviati on Google
Description
The Royal Palace of Milan was the seat of the government of the city of Milan since the early 16th century and is today used for art exhibitions and as a cultural centre. The Palazzo is located to the right of the Duomo's facade, opposite Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. The building saw destruction and looting several times - the last during WW2, but it has been extensively refurbished and renovated, including the famous Hall of the Caryatids.
Access & Transport
The Palace is on the south-eastern side of the Piazza del Duomo, in the center of the city. The Duomo metro station (1, 3) and tram station (2, 12, 14, 16, 19) stop on Piazza del Duomo.
Instructions & Recommendations
We suggest combining this attraction with a visit of Il Duomo.
Environmental & Social
Some electricity to run the palace (lighting and heating) but environmentally neutral otherwise. Socially positive as it helps preserve the city's cultural and architectural heritages
Conclusion
No permanent collection so check whether the temporary one is of interest to you before heading there because, in our opinion, the building itself doesn't warrant the admission fee.
Key positive
Temporary exhibitions can be of high quality
Hyper-central location
Key negative
A little expensive
The Palace has lost its grandeur
Suitability
Accessible for visitors with reduced mobility. Children under 12yrs old may not find the palace / museum very interesting
