Description
Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, commonly known as San Siro, is the home of A.C. Milan and Inter Milan - two of Italy's best known and most successful football clubs, including at the European level. It has a capacity of 75,000 spectators but is set to be demolished in the next few years as an upgrade to modern safety standards would be too costly. Tours include a walk through AC Milan and Inter’s locker rooms, the mixed zone, the players’ tunnel and a view of the San Siro pitch. The Museum contains jerseys from famous players, memorabilia and trophies.
Access & Transport
The stadium is 6km west of the city centre. Tram #16 and metro line #5 stop there
Instructions & Recommendations
Tours depart every 20-30mins starting at 09h30. You can start the museum visit whilst waiting for the next one to depart. Private tours in Italian, English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Indonesian, Chinese, Japanese, Arabic and Russian are available upon reservation.
Environmental & Social
The San Siro stadium lags behind peers in terms of sustainability. The tour itself has no real environmental footprint. Socially neutral.
Conclusion
The San Siro Stadium & Museum tour is something different that we would recommend to football fans that have never been inside a top-tier stadium or are fans or either Milan teams. If that is not your profile, then it may not be worth the price and time investment.
Key positive
Great venue for AC Milan or Inter Milan fans
Key negative
Not that interesting if you are not into pro football
The inside of the stadium is nothing special
Suitability
Suitable for all ages (best if children are over 8yrs old). Unclear whether the entire tour is accessible for wheelchair users
