Description
La Ronde is an amusement park in Montreal operated by Six Flags, there are about 40 rides ranging from thrilling to family-friendly and a yearly firework competition held during the summer. The most famous rides include Le Monstre (one of the world’s tallest wooden roller coaster), Goliath (up to 110kph and 4G force), Titan (swings up to 45 meter in the air on a giant swaying pendulum), and Phoenix (flying scooters, family).
Access & Transport
The attraction is located on Saint Helen's Island, across the Jacques Cartier Bridge from The Village neighbourhood and about 5km northeast of downtown. The closest metro station are Jean-Drapeau (yellow), a 15 mins walk away and Papineau (green), with bus services operating from them to the park: shuttle 767 and 769, respectively Driving directions & parking: https://www.sixflags.com/larondeen/plan-your-visit/directions. Instructions & Recommendations
*** Tickets need to be purchased online, they are not sold at the park *** Make sure to check the operating days and hours on the website as they are subject to change.
Environmental & Social
At Six Flag group level, some Corporate standard ESG wording without much substance and some environmental initiatives such as promoting the use of solar power but this remains an energy intensive business (to power the rides + lighting). At the park level, some info related to F&B sourcing & recycling but nothing around energy & water expenditure. Link: https://www.sixflags.com/larondeen/about-us/ecoresponsibility
Conclusion
La Ronde is an amusement park with some thrilling rides but little by way of theming. Tickets are somewhat pricey yet not outrageously so, therefore whether you should go for it depends on your interest for adrenaline rushes and your tolerance for waiting in queue. We think there are more interesting things to discover over a 2/3-day stay in Montreal, but with more time in hand, why not. May make more sense for residents with an annual passport.
