Meta review

The zoo gets excellent marks from visitors who primarily enjoy the variety of species and find it large, green and beautifully kept. There are enough F&B options of decent quality albeit a little expensive. Hellabrunn seems to rank among the best zoos for many reviewers and there is no substantial issue that is pointed out on a consistent basis.

Environmental & Social

The zoo uses wells to cover its freshwater needs. It is involved in endangered species breeding programs and supports several conservation projects https://www.hellabrunn.de/en/species-conservation/species-conservation-at-hellabrunn-zoo

Conclusion

The zoo is one of the best non-cultural / historical attractions in the city and makes for an excellent family half-day excursion. The range of species is genuinely impressive, and the conservation efforts are commandable even though keeping animals in enclosures is an ethical issue for many.
