Description
The Mar Menor is a saltwater lagoon of the Mediterranean Sea located in the Region of Murcia. The lagoon is very shallow and contains mud that is deemed to have therapeutic effects, hence mud baths are popular. The Baños de Lodo and Las Charcas are the most popular locations.
Access & Transport
The mud baths are on the northern edge of San Pedro del Pinatar which is 50km southeast of Murcia and 40km northeast of Cartagena.
Instructions & Recommendations
We recommend bringing a set of old swimming costume and towel.
Environmental & Social
Green activity. Socially neutral.
Conclusion
If you have never tried mud bathing and are staying in Murcia, Cartagena or La Manga, then give this a try. You can easily combine a trip there with a visit of the Salinas y Arenales de San Pedro del Pinatar protected natural area.
