Presidential Palace of Nanjing - by CJ Kuo on Google

Description
The Presidential Palace of Nanjing was the office of the President of the Republic of China from 1927 to 1949, when the ROC Government relocated to Taipei and the Chinese Communist Party took over control and proclaimed the People's Republic of China (PRC). The complex now houses the China Modern History Museum that focuses on the country's history since 1912 (date of creation of the ROC), it consists of a Main Gate, two gardens (East and West), the Main Hall in traditional Chinese-style, the Presidential Building with the Presidential office and other administrative buildings.
Access & Transport
The palace complex can be considered to represent the very centre of Nanjing. It is a 5 mins walk from the Daxinggong metro station (2, 3) and several bus services stop there.
Instructions & Recommendations
From the palace, it is a short metro ride to either Purple Mountain of Fuzimiao, the lively neighbourhood around the city's Confucius Temple.
Environmental & Social
Minor carbon footprint (electricity use). Part of the city's and country's historical heritage
Conclusion
Interesting but visually not that impressive, in particular compared to the seat of power of Chinese Imperial power or the current CCP. Recommended for Chinese nationals and history buffs
