Monasterio de Iranzu - by Lina Marcela Rodriguez on Google
Description
The Monastery of Iranzu (Monasterio de Santa María la Real de Iranzu) was built by the Cistercian order between the 12th and 14th centuries (and extensively renovated during the 20th). The highlight is the cloister with ornate stonework and other parts of the complex such as the church, the kitchen, the refectory and the punishment cells can also be visited.
Access & Transport
The complex is located 4km from Abárzuza along the NA-7135 and 50km west of Pamplona (A-12 expressway and take exit 34 toward Valle de Yerri/Abárzuza). Parking is available on site.
Instructions & Recommendations
There are group guided visits available for 3 € (presumably in Spanish only)
Environmental & Social
We deem this attraction environmentally neutral. Preserves the region's architectural heritage.
Conclusion
The visit of the monastery is quite short but very affordable and is enhanced by a very green environment. An excellent option for tourists in slow travel mode and regional residents.
