Nacedero del Urederra hike - by Tomas Alonso on Alltrails #3
Description
The Nacedero de Urederra hike is a 6km out-and-back near the source of the Urederra river (meaning "beautiful water" in Basque) in the Urbasa-Andía Natural Park of western Navarra. The source is the natural outlet of an aquifer and is noteworthy for the various pools of turquoise water and small rapids & waterfalls. The cumulative ascent is only ~250m and the trail is not technical so it is suitable for inexperienced hikers.
Access & Transport
The trail head (and parking) are located in Baquedano, 18km north of Estella and 60km west of Pamplona (A-12 expressway and take exit 40 towards Estella) Street parking in the town of Baquedano is prohibited (except for residents) so a paid parking must be used
Instructions & Recommendations
Since 2019 access is restricted to 500 persons per day and online booking is required (on this website: https://urederra.amescoa.com/) and the last few hundred meters to the source are no longer accessible. Bathing is not allowed in the natural pools. Make sure to wear shoes with a good grip.
Environmental & Social
Eco-friendly activity. Socially marginally positive as it potentially brings some revenues to the surrounding villages
Conclusion
The Nacedero del Urederra is a pleasant walk with beautiful streams. Do not expect high mountain vistas here. Best for families and those looking to explore the region in depth.
