Description
Santa María de Ujué is a church-fortress located on a hill in the medieval village of Ujué in southern Navarra. It was built in Romanesque style in the 11th century and is notable for its crenelated towers and its richly decorated Gothic portals. The carved image of the Virgin of Ujué has become a place of pilgrimage.
Access & Transport
Ujué is 55km to the south of Pamplona (AP-15, exit 56A at Tafalla and N-132). There are bus services from Tafalla (via Olite). Some parking spaces next to the church.
Instructions & Recommendations
We suggest combining this activity with the Royal Palace of Olite, a 20mins drive away.
Environmental & Social
Environmentally neutral. Part of the regions' architectural heritage and tourism brings some revenues to the local economy
