It opened in 1858 on a site previously occupied by villages. At the south-eastern corner is 5 Av/59 St (N, R, W), at the southwestern is 59 St-Columbus Circle (A, B, C, D, 1, 2). The A, B, C subway lines run along the western side up to 'Cathedral Pkwy (110 St)' and lines 2 and 3 stop at the northern end in 'Central Park North (110 St)'.

Instructions & Recommendations

Fantastic place for a run (or even bike ride), the main loop is exactly 10km!

Meta review

One of New York's best known and loved venues - highly rated too by visitors and residents alike that find there a refuge from the city's traffic and hectic environment; the perfect place for a walk or summer picnic with stunning views of Manhattan skyline. There are some recurring comments from online reviewers living in the countryside or smaller cities/towns who find it to be a rather normal park: a patch of green with a lake; but those are a minority.

Environmental & Social

Green activity that also benefits the community from a quality-of-life standpoint

Conclusion

Thanks to a varied and rolling topography, Central Park offers visitors varied paths and landscapes, including views of the surrounding skyscrapers that makes many corners unique and worth exploring. A real oasis of green in the urban jungle of NYC.
