Castle Hill Park - by Laure C on Google
Description
The Castle Hill Park (Parc de la Colline du Château) stands on the city's original site, where a military citadel once stood overlooking the bay from the 11th to the 18th century (it was taken by French troops in 1705 and destroyed afterwards). Nowadays, it consists of green spaces and is popular with tourists as one of the best viewpoints over the city coastline and the Vieux-Nice.
Access & Transport
The hill is located in the southeast corner of the Vieux Nice area and can be accessed either through small winding roads, by steps, or through the Art Deco lift next to Bellanda Tower and Rue des Ponchettes / Quai des Etats Unis.
Instructions & Recommendations
We suggest combining this activity with an exploration of the Vieux-Nice. The best time to go is around sunrise or sunset.
Environmental & Social
Green attraction and socially neutral
