Dotonbori - by Koreval

Description
Dōtonbori was historically a theatre district and is now famous for its restaurants, shopping, and nightlife. It runs along the namesake canal in the Namba district, roughly between the Nipponbashi and Dōtonboribashi bridges. It is characterized by large neon billboards such as that for the company Glico. Shinsaibashi is Osaka's main shopping area, immediately north of Dōtonbori. It is centred around the covered street of Shinsaibashi-suji and can be extended to include the parallel streets to the west forming the youth and pop subculture area of Amerika-mura.
Access & Transport
Dōtonbori is right next to the major train station of Osaka-Namba and metro station of Namba (Midosuji, Sennichimae and Yosubashi lines) with Shinsaibashi stretching between Namba and Shinsaibashi metro station (Midosuji and Nagahoritsurumiryokuchi lines). Yotsubashi station (Yotsubashi line) is also an option for the Amerika-Mura neighbourhood.

Conclusion
A fantastic area for shoppers and urban explorers: lively, colourful, and streets catering to different tastes (Marika-mura in particular). Plenty of good restaurant options, including some top-notch ramen shops. However, if shopping is not part of your interests, you may want to avoid the place altogether.
