Description
Pamplona Cathedral was built during the 15th century in Gothic style and is notable for its various retables, polychromed rib vault, its distinctive façade and the tombs of Charles III of Navarre and his spouse Eleanor of Castile. The cathedral is complemented by a 13th-century cloister (the previous church collapsed in 1391) and a Diocesan Museum exhibiting regional religious art.
Access & Transport
The church is in the northern part of the historical center of town, walking distance from most other sights. The closest bus stop is at Plaza de Santiago (L14) Pamplona is 80km southeast of San Sebastian (70mins drive) and 175km northwest of Zaragoza (2h drive or by train).
Instructions & Recommendations
There are guided visits in Spanish taking place daily at 12h00 (except Sundays) and a few people can book to go up the tower a 11h15.
Environmental & Social
Environmentally neutral. Fees help preserve this historic building, part of the city's architectural heritage.
Conclusion
Arguably one of Pamplona main cultural activities but shouldn't really feel special in any way for those who have already seen many other European cathedrals.
Key positive
Attractive façade and cloister
Centrally located
Key negative
No standout feature for a Spanish cathedral

Suitable for all ages but best for those aged 12 and above to appreciate the architecture and decoration
