Description
The Marché des Enfants Rouges is the oldest covered market in Paris. It was established in the early 17th century and is now classified as an historical monument. The market was named after the nearby orphanage where kids were clothed in red, the colour of charity. Visitors can buy fresh fruits, vegetables, bread and flowers. There are also restaurants selling cooked meals.

It is a good idea to visit if you are planning to stock up your fridge or at lunch time and use the opportunity to eat in one of the restaurants. From there, it is a short walk to Canal Saint Martin or Le Marais neighbourhood.
Environmental & Social
Environmentally neutral. Socially positive as it promotes small operators and stall owners and keeps some economic vitality in the surrounding neighbourhood.
