Musée Grévin, Paris

10 Boulevard Montmartre, Paris, Île-de-France

Description

The Musée Grévin is a wax museum founded in 1882 on the model of Madame Tussauds in London (1835). It was named for its first artistic director and also includes a hall of mirror with optical illusions. The museum comprises of over 450 characters with the oldest wax characters mostly focused on French history and the more recent additions being more international and focused on sports and entertainment stars. The museum also has 2 outposts in Montreal and Seoul.

Access & Transport

It is a 2mins walk from the Grands Boulevards métro station (8,9) and bus stop and less than 5mins from Bourse métro station (3). For parking, the best options are the Indigo Paris Bourse car park on rue Vivienne and the Chauchat Drouot car park (both paying).

Instructions & Recommendations

Cheaper if dated ticket booked 3 days in advance We recommend combining this activity with a visit to one of the Grands Magasins along Bd Haussman (Galleries Lafayette or Printemps) or towards Opera Garnier and Madeleine / Place Vendôme.

Meta review

Most of the visitors seem to have enjoyed the quality and breadth of the character; even non-French tourists. There is a fair number though who found the experience average and not worth the price. The comparison Vs Mme Tussauds is very inconsistent but, overall, they should please the same crowd.

Environmental & Social

The activity has low carbon footprint. Socially neutral

Conclusion

The Grévin Museum is a high-quality wax museum and a bit of a Paris institution - if you think you would like it, then you probably will. And if you think you won't, then save your euros for another activity. We are not trying to be smart here, but many people love this type of attraction and a substantial number of people do not see the point in it so just look at pictures and decide in which camp you fall.
