Sil Canyon - by Luis Veiga Mora on Google

Description
The Sil Canyon is a gorge carved by the Sil River, in Galicia, acting as a natural border between the provinces of Ourense and Lugo. The slopes are almost wall-like in certain places and up to 500m above the river; this creates a microclimate suitable for vineyards, specifically the D.O. Ribeira Sacra. There are some viewpoints, catamaran trips and hiking routes (up to 22km connecting the monasteries of San Esteban and Santa Cristina on the south bank)
Access & Transport
The north bank of the gorges is 80km south of Lugo and the south bank is 25km northeast of Ourense. From Santiago de Compostela, it is about 130km.
Instructions & Recommendations
Take a look at the map beforehand so as to decide whether to drive to the south or north bank depending on your desired activités.
Environmental & Social
Eco-friendly attraction and tourism brings some economic activity to the villages in the area

Key negative
Need some time to get there
