Foz do Douro beaches - by V Z on Google

Description
Foz do Douro is an oceanside district in the west of Porto, on the northern side of the Douro estuary. It is best known for its sandy beaches linked by a promenade and interspersed by rocky outcrops such as Praia do Carneiro, Praia dos Ingleses, and Praia de Gondarém (several of which hold blue flag ratings), for the 17th century Fort São João Baptista da Foz, and for its lighthouses: Farolim de Felgueiras and Farolim da Barra do Douro.
Access & Transport
The beaches are located 6-7km to the west of Porto city centre. The tram line #1 goes all the way to the Jardim do Passeio Alegre, near the mouth of the Douro and the lighthouses.
Instructions & Recommendations
Water temperature and weather are likely to make swimming between Nov and March feel challenging.
Environmental & Social
No carbon footprint linked to this activity. Marginally positive for the local F&B

For those who tire of the cobbled streets and cultural activities of the historical centre of Porto, the beaches of Foz do Douro provide a good change of atmosphere and are only a short drive or tram ride away. Popular with residents as well and best experienced in the summer.
