Description
Wallenstein Palace was commissioned in the 1620's by Bohemian military leader Albrecht von Wallenstein (the Commander-in-Chief of the Imperial forces in the Thirty Years War) and now houses the Senate of the Czech Republic. It consists of a riding school, an Italian style garden with a grotto and a pond with a statue of Hercules, a garden pavilion (sala terrena) looking over a row of statues in the garden, and the Palace itself with a main wing that is 60m long and a double-story main hall with a frescoed ceiling. Only the gardens are seasonally open to visitors.
Access & Transport
The palace is at the northern end of the Little Quarter / Mala Strana, at the foot of the hill on which Prague Castle stands Metro and tram station Malostranská are next to the complex. There is a side entrance on Letenska street.
Instructions & Recommendations
Free public guided tours of the Palace take place every 1st Saturday of the month starting from 09h00 and the last tour starts at 15h30.
