Description
Jebel Jais is a mountain in the Hajar range that straddles Oman and the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah ("RAK", in the UAE). A high point west of the peak in considered the highest peak in the UAE at 1,892m (the summit is actually at 1,934m). It regularly features as the main climb during the UAE Tour road cycling race. The Omani side is largely undeveloped, but the RAK side has well maintained asphalted road, a viewing platform and even the longest zip line in the world (2.8km)

It is a 55km drive from RAK City. The mountain is accessible by road and the last 15km or so have hairpins

Environmentally neutral except for the road construction and the petrol to get there.
Conclusion
Jebel Jais is easily one of the best outdoor options in the Eastern UAE and a good alternative to the beaches, shopping malls and museums. Not a must see by any means but worth the dive for residents or those who have already explored the key urban attractions in the country.
