Description
Piazza Venezia is one of Rome's main thoroughfares, informally separating the Old City, Modern Centre, and the Roman era monuments. It is named after the Palazzo Venezia (that served as the embassy of the Republic of Venice in Rome) and located at the foot of the Capitoline Hill, next to the Trajan's Forum. The main monument on the piazza is the Monument to Vittorio Emanuele II (first King of Italy), it was built between 1885 and 1911. The bronze chariots at the top of the colonnaded portico symbolize Freedom and the Unity of the Homeland.
Access & Transport
Tram 8 stops at "Venezia" station, on the western side of the piazza. Buses 46, 60, 80, 119, 781, 916 also stop nearby and plenty more at "Plebiscito" on Via del Plebiscito.
Instructions & Recommendations
We suggest combining a visit here with the Capitoline Museums or the Galleria Doria Pamphillj.
