The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) collections are focused on 20th & 21st century art with thousands of works spanning paintings, sculptures, design and photography. The building was designed by Mario Botta in 1995 and expanded under a project led by Snøhetta architects. Some of the artists on display include Henri Matisse, George Braque, Paul Klee, Jackson Pollock and Willem de Kooning.

Visitors' entrance is at 151 Third Street, in the SoMA district. Public transport: Powell Street and Montgomery Street BART and SF Muni Light Rail stations, and Powell Street and California Street cable cars. Bus stops are located nearby at Mission Street, Howard Street, Third Street, and Second Street. The museum parking is at 147 Minna Street (3mins' walk)
Instructions & Recommendations
All visitors (including members and visitors 18 and younger, who always enjoy free admission) require a ticket. Complimentary tickets for visitors 18 and younger can be booked online in conjunction with a paid or member ticket.
Environmental & Social
Some environment impact to run the museum (mostly electricity) but the building has a living wall and uses LED lighting. Positive from a social perspective by helping spread culture and the arts.
Conclusion
This is one of the city's best cultural venues and, even though not everybody is a fan of modern & contemporary art, the range of medium and artistic movements guarantees there is something there from everyone - including many pieces by world famous artists. The modern building architecture is perfectly adapted to the content.
