Meta review

Reviews are good but a little mixed: those who have seen ancient Egypt collections in large international museums regularly state not being really impressed but some point out that because the collection is not as extensive, if focuses on smaller items which are seldom exhibited elsewhere. Otherwise, most visitors find it to be surprisingly good and providing comprehensive insights into the daily life, rulers and religion (including the afterlife as imagined then). A few comments that maintenance is average and one good tip: come early, before the school visits.

Environmental & Social

In 2018, the museum became a net zero energy building. Educational aspect to the museum with a lot of school trips.

Conclusion

The museum is one of the South Bay area main cultural venues and, although the building isn't very large, because the collection is so focused, it does what it set out to do very well. Worth a detour for those keen on antiquities and ancient Egyptian culture.
