San Telmo Museum - by Management

Description
The San Telmo Museum is partly housed in a 16th century Dominican convent with a church and cloister complemented by a contemporary extension. Its collections are focused on Basque history, art, and culture and extend to typical activities of the region before modern times such as manufacturing, iron ore extraction and whale hunting. There are also artworks by famous painters such as El Greco, Sorolla, and Zuluoga.
Access & Transport
Address: Plaza Zuloaga 1, 20003 Donostia – San Sebastián The museum marks the north-eastern corner of San Sebastian's old own, at the foot of Mont Urgull. It is 500m from Gipuzkoa Plaza and a 15mins walk from the main train station. The closest car parks are at Alameda del Boulevard 2 (Boulevard) and Reina Regente 1 (Okendo). The city is quite easy to get to by car from Bilbao or France (only 20km across the border).
Instructions & Recommendations
We suggest combining a visit there with an exploration of the old town and/or a walk up Mont Urgull to enjoy the sweeping views from there
Environmental & Social
The modern extension has a "green façade" but otherwise standard electric consumption for a museum. Helps preserve the region's cultural heritage and spread the arts
Conclusion
San Telmo is a well-executed regional museum with a good range of artistic and cultural themes enhanced by the clever renovation and repurposing of an old convent. Expect this to be very popular on a rainy day.
