Description
Mission Santa Barbara was founded in 1786 - on Dec. 4th, the feast day of Santa Barbara. It went on to give its name to the city. Today, it serves as a parish church, a Franciscan Friary and a museum The self-guided tour includes the Sacred Garden, Historic Cemetery, Mission Church and Museum

The mission is located at 2201 Laguna Street, at the northern end of town, between the CA-1 / US-101 exit 99 and the CA-192 (exit onto Mission Canyon Rd). Accessibility info: https://www.santabarbaramission.org/accessibility
Instructions & Recommendations
-
Environmental & Social
Environmentally neutral. The admission fees contribute to the maintenance and restoration of the Mission
Conclusion
The Mission is nice and interesting enough but completely optional if you have already visited another one in California. Our main gripe is the pricing, especially considering it is for a self-guided tour in a religious monument
Key positive
Informative and historical aspects
Photogenic building
Key negative
Somewhat expensive (even for children)
Suitability
No restrictions. Most areas are accessible for visitors with reduced mobility
