Parque da Alameda (Santiago de Compostela)

Avenida de Xoán Carlos I, Santiago de Compostela, Galicia

Description

The Alameda is a 5.6ha urban park in the town of Santiago de Compostela. It has wide shaded promenades, water features, sculptures, granite benches with an artistic cast-iron back, and a few monuments such as a bandstand and a stone stairway. The church of Santa Susana is situated in the centre of the park.

Access & Transport

The park is a 5mins walk from the Cathedral and 10mins north of the train station. It is 70km to A Coruña on the AP-9 or 30mins by train.

Instructions & Recommendations

We suggest combining this activity with an exploration of the historical centre of town and a visit of the famed Cathedral.

Meta review

One of the towns' main attractions with good but not amazing comments from visitors who describe it as not very large but centrally located, offering excellent views over town (and the cathedral in particular), and clearly designed for casual walks.

Environmental & Social

A green attraction. Positive for the community as green spaces make for a better living environment

Conclusion

Nothing really spectacular here but if you are looking for a casual walk in a pleasant environment and a short distance away from the main sights of in town - this is it! Great option for residents as well, of course.
