Legoland Deutschland

3 Legoland-Allee, Günzburg, Bayern

Description

Legoland Deutschland is a themed amusement park located in Southern Germany, between Munich and Stuttgart. It comprises a mix of rides and attractions across 6 areas: Miniland with its impressive lego bricks structures, Lego Ninja World, Imagination, Lego City, Pharaohs' Land, Lego X-treme and Knights' Kingdom. These are complemented by a holiday village comprising several hotels, restaurants and activities. Key attractions include the Fire Dragon roller coaster, Flying Ninjago and Jungle X-pedition.

Access & Transport

The park is located in Günzburg, on the eastern side of Bavaria, halfway between Munich and Stuttgart (120km and 110km respectively on the A8 - exit 67). It is possible to get there by train from those cities, but it requires multiple changes. It is 100km north of Allgäu on the A7/A8. Parking is available at 10 € per day (at the time of this review)

Instructions & Recommendations

It is strongly recommended to book a timed ticket online before visiting to benefit from the online price

Meta review

One of the most popular amusement parks in the country though online reviews are quite mixed but not necessarily conflicting. The rides mostly draw positive comments, as do the decoration and the Miniland structures made of lego bricks but there are very consistent complaints about the long waiting times and the sense that everything is run to generate the maximum amount of profit, often to the detriment of the customer experience.

Environmental & Social

Theme parks entail large construction projects and high running energy requirements as well as waste. The Park operator has environmental policies targeting the reduction of waste sent to landfill, electricity consumption and water use. We have insufficient data to comment on social aspects

Conclusion

The rides there are varied but whilst some of them are quite thrilling they are skewed towards younger children rather than adults and teenagers. The main issue - as is often the case with theme parks - is value as tickets are far from cheap and, on most days, visitors are subjected to long waiting lines for the most popular rides. Hard to recommend expect to theme park fans or if you have an itinerary weighted towards grown-up interests and need to give a day of fun to your younger family members.

Key positive

Plenty of kids-oriented rides

Good theming, if you like Legos

Key negative

Lack of healthy food options

Quite expensive

Long waiting lines

Suitability

Suitable for younger children. Most attractions, but not all, are accessible for visitors with reduced mobility.
