Description
Namsan Tower (or 'N Seoul Tower') is a 236m-tall telecom and observation tower located in central Seoul, on Nam Mountain (Namsan, 243m above sea level). There are 4 storeys inside, 2 of which are restaurants and the middle ones are observation decks; in fact T3 is a digital observatory equipped with LCD screens exhibiting the country's history. Trivia: the lighting colour of the tower is contingent upon air quality in the city
Access & Transport
Namsan is in the Yongsan district of. There are shuttle buses connecting the tower to Chungmuro station (3, 4) and Dongguk Univ. station (3) In addition, there is a cable car option departing a 10mins walk from Myeong-dong station (4). Instructions & Recommendations
We suggest combining this activity with an exploration of the Itaewon neighbourhood, just southwest of Namsan
Environmental & Social
No environmental data. The primary purpose of the building is broadcasting so the carbon footprint comes mainly from the lighting (LEDs) and lift operations.
Conclusion
If you want panoramic views over Seoul without the journey and hike up Bukhansan then this is possibly the most interesting option available. We recommend hiking up and down if you have the time to do so: cheaper, healthier, more sustainable, and you'll be in a natural environment.
