Seodaemun Prison History Hall in Seoul is a former prison set up in 1908 and used during the Japanese colonial period (1910-45) to incarcerate Korean liberation activists such as Kim Koo. It has been repurposed as a museum and the historical buildings are complemented by modern exhibits documenting the national resistance and illustrating the conditions of detention, including torture.

The museum is located in the Seodaemun district, about 2.5km west of Gyeongbokgung Dongnimmun station (3) is next to it and they are also bus options

It is possible to book docent-led ours in English, Japanese, or Mandarin but this requires 1-week advanced notice. Contact details are available on the website
