Constantina - by Paco Reyes on Google
Description
Constantina is a small town located in the Sierra Morena, in the northern part of Seville's province. Like the rest of the area, it was under Muslim rule until the mid-13th century and then became part of the kingdom of Seville. Notable buildings and monuments include the church of Our Lady of the Incarnation, the ruins of the castle, and the Plaza de Toros (bullring).
Access & Transport
The town is located 85km northwest of Seville and 55km north of Carmona. By car from Seville, drive on the A4 to Carmona and take exit 506 on the A-457 until Lora del Rio and continue northward on the A-455. It is also possible to get there from Cordoba (1h40 / 110km drive)
Instructions & Recommendations
Other monuments worth visiting in the area include the Carthusian Monastery of Cazalla de la Sierra, 20km to the northwest in the Sierra Norte.
Environmental & Social
The main activities in the town have a low carbon footprint. Tourism is a welcome injection of activity and revenues in the local economy
Conclusion
Constantina is a visual and atmospheric experience, away from the busy Andalusian cities. It is best tackled as part of a regional road trip, possibly linking Seville with the province of Badajoz, not far to the north or as a detour between Seville and Cordoba
