Isla Mágica, Seville

Calle Puerta de la Barqueta, Sevilla, Andalucía

Description

Isla Mágica is a theme park located in the west of Seville, on the former grounds of the Expo '92 World's Fair. It features a variety of rides, including roller-coasters (and a large lake) spread over 6 themed areas: Sevilla Puerto de Indias, Puerta de America, La Guarida de los Piratas, La Fuente de la Juventud, El Dorado and Amazonia. There are also some daily shows. Some of the most popular rides include: Challenge (68m free fall), Jaguar (inverted rollercoaster), Anaconda (log raft), Iguazú (splash ride with a drop of 15m) and Dimensión 4 (4D cinema)

Access & Transport

Entrance: Rotonda Isla Mágica, Seville This is on the 'Isla de la Cartuja', just across the Puente de la Barqueta. The car park is on Calle Juan Bautista Muñoz, 400 metres from the entrance For those looking to take public transports, there are bus stops on Calle Torneo just across the Barqueta bridge More info on how to get there: https://www.islamagica.es/en/location/

Instructions & Recommendations

There is also an aqua park: 'Agua Magica'. Combined tickets are available and there is little price difference if buying ahead of time online. It is prohibited to enter the park with food and/or drinks

Meta review

Online reviews for the theme park are quite average, even filtering out the large number of fakes. On the positive side, there is a handful of rides that adults can enjoy and younger children will have a field day. The main negative comments relate to the poor value for money, the long lines, the lack of food diversity and its excessive price, the low number of rides of interest for adults, the lack of shade (in particular when queuing) and the disappointed level of maintenance, including the toilets.

Environmental & Social

No environmental data available so we deem this activity a little negative in that respect on account of the high energy intensity of the rides. Socially neutral

Conclusion

Isla Magica is perhaps starting to show its age and suffers from under-investment. It is not one to travel for and, unsurprisingly, most of the customer base seems to be regional - indeed, for residents with younger children, an annual pass can quickly make sense.

Key positive

Good range of rides for families

Close to the city centre

Key negative

Long waiting lines on most days

Day-ticket is poor value for money

Needs to step up maintenance and modernize

Suitability

Good for families; the suitability of individual rides is based on height. Some, but not all, are accessible for visitors with reduced mobility.
